‘Compelling. It highlights a key aspect of working in a dynamic in which we are all haplessly caught’ – Source

A photographic account of a war-ravaged landscape from one of France's most respected contemporary artist-photographers.

W(est) B(ank) collects together Ristelhueber's latest work, a series of hauntingly compelling images of the roadblocks that criss-cross the arteries of the Occupied Territories: human traces in a wasteland apparently devoid of human life.

This book accompanied the exhibition at the Musée d'art moderne et contemporain, Geneva.

Sophie Ristelhueber is one of France's most noteworthy contemporary artists. Her book Aftermath which dealt with the fall-out of the Gulf War in 1991, was published by Thames & Hudson in 1992. She was awarded the Deutsche Borse Photography prize in 2010.
