Through their projects, these pioneers will join the distinguished global network of a hundred Rolex Laureates, chosen since 1976, who have made a personal contribution to mankind and the natural environment.

The Awards for Enterprise were established over 30 years ago by Swiss watchmaker Rolex to support committed individuals with outstanding, innovative projects to improve human life and knowledge. A judging panel of eminent scientists, explorers and specialists selects ten winners from many hundreds of entries from around the world. These men and women are chosen on the basis of their spirit of enterprise and on the originality, feasibility and potential impact of their projects.

Like previous awards series, the 13th edition presents a spectacular range of highly imaginative projects that promise to bring benefits to many parts of the world, from predicting volcano eruptions to conserving the ancient city of Petra from the ravages of time and tourism, from using recycled vegetables and plastic to solve a housing crisis to modifying two-stroke engines to cut smog in the mega-cities of Asia.
