‘An amazing collection …  stunning images’
– Amateur Photographer

An astonishing glimpse into the heart of volcanoes!

The most active volcano on earth is Kilauea in Hawaii, seen by 3 million people every year. Along with its counterpart Piton de La Fournaise, on the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean, it is characterized by extraordinary lava flows that travel great distances through a spectacular landscape.

These twin volcanoes are the focus of this dazzling photographic essay by two renowned photographers, who have spent years living with their subjects and striving to capture the raw fires of the Earth at their most dazzling and dramatic.

This is a timely reminder that the Earth itself is alive and fulfilling an agenda of its own.

See the Red Volcanoes website

Lockwood is one of the world’s leading volcanologists and the author of over 140 articles on geology and volcanology. Alain Gerente is a French documentary filmmaker, based in Réunion, whose films include L’Eruption Magique.
