Ali Akay is Professor and Head of the Sociology Department at Mimar Sinan Fine Art University, as well as Visiting Professor at Humboldt University (Berlin), the University of Paris VIII and İNHA, also in Paris. He is a prolific author, writing widely on various aspects of Turkish contemporary art, and also a highly regarded curator, frequently organizing exhibitions for the Akbank Sanat, Istanbul.
Ahu Antmen is a curator, critic and writer. She studied Communication at Istanbul University and then an MA in 20th-century art at Goldsmiths College, London. As a curator she has collaborated with Platform Garanti, in Turkey, and the Istanbul Biennial. She is the Turkey correspondent for Flash Art International and was the co-editor of the Turkish Art Annual.
Emre Baykal is a curator based in Istanbul. He has been Director of the Istanbul Biennial and Director of Exhibitions at santralistanbul, where he organized the show ‘Modern and Beyond’, covering Turkish art from 1950 to 2000. Among his other projects is the 24th Istanbul Contemporary Artists Exhibition. He is also the author of a book on Kutluğ Ataman, You Tell Me About Yourself Anyway.
Maryam Homayoun Eisler [Executive Editor] holds a BA from Wellesley College and an MBA from Columbia University. Currently co-chair of the Tate Middle East North Africa Acquisition Committee, Eisler was the curatorial director for Different Sames: New Perspectives in Contemporary Iranian Art.
Irit Rogoff is Professor of Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths College, London. A graduate of the Courtauld Institute, Rogoff has written widely on contemporary art and critical theory with particular reference to issues of colonialism and cultural difference. Her books include Terra Infirma: Geography’s Visual Culture, and she is a director of an international AHRB research project Translating the Image: Cross-Cultural Contemporary Arts.
