Are you skilled at using sales data to inform decisions, drive revenue and achieve budgets? Can you identify commercial opportunities and communicate effectively across multiple relationships?

 

World-renowned illustrated publisher Thames & Hudson is seeking a confident and commercially focused Sales & Product Manager to join our Distributed Books team.

 

This is a key role supporting the performance of our diverse portfolio of distributed publishers across global markets. You’ll work closely with the Head of Distributed Books and our global sales teams to monitor title performance, manage stock levels, forecast demand and ensure titles are effectively positioned. You'll also act as a primary point of contact to our distributed publishers in providing feedback and actionable insight.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded professional who can interpret sales data, communicate clearly and collaborate with teams to drive results and support sales growth.

 

The Role

  • Manage revenue budgets with Head of Distributed Books, focusing on frontlist targets
  • Provide strategic support to the global sales teams through reporting, title insights, and analysis for frontlist & backlist titles
  • Track sales of seasonal lead titles highlighting stock level risks, ensuring sales targets and forecasts are met
  • Deliver market and sales feedback to distributed publishers via updates and business reviews
  • Lead on stock ordering and forecasting based on sales trends, promotions, and publisher needs
  • Proactively manage inventory: reprints, reorders & excess stock
  • Maintain the publication and release schedule aligned with delivery, inventory, and sales opportunities
  • Plan and produce the Distributed Publishers seasonal sales catalogue

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Previous experience in publishing with a sound understanding of the publishing process and workflows
  • Communication: ability to and have confidence in presenting publishing programmes and participating within sales meetings
  • Sales-focused: demonstrates commercial judgement, ability to identify trends and opportunities through analysis of sales reports
  • Insight-driven: able to convey sales data both written and verbally into actionable insights that inform decisions and drive results
  • Commercially aware: understands how inventory, promotions, and market trends impact sales and profitability
  • Collaborative: be able to work closely with distributed publishers and the global sales teams
  • Organized & proactive: self-motivated and capable of prioritizing under pressure
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel
