Frank Ernest Halliday was an academic who wrote on a wide range of subjects. Halliday was educated at King's College, Cambridge, where he earned his M.A. in 1928. He taught English and history at Cheltenham College, and served as head of the English Department there, from 1929 to 1948. He wrote or edited more than 20 books and was best known for his books on William Shakespeare.
