Thames & Hudson is seeking a creative, digitally savvy and commercially-minded Marketing Executive to support and plan digital campaigns across our internationally recognised art, design, architecture, photography, fashion, and visual culture publishing programme.
This role works alongside the Senior Marketing Manager to develop and execute innovative, audience-led marketing campaigns that grow brand visibility, engage global creative communities, and drive sales across print and online sales channels for key titles and campaigns. The successful candidate will combine strong commercial awareness of the publishing industry with a deep understanding of visual storytelling, cultural audiences, and digital trends, and be keen to learn and grow in the role.
Working collaboratively across editorial, publicity, sales, design, and international partners, and guided by the Senior Marketing Manager, the Marketing Executive will play a role in shaping our campaigns.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
General overview - marketing campaign fundamentals:
- In collaboration with the Senior Marketing Manager, this role will research, create and implement effective marketing campaigns that deliver strong visibility, drive sales and show evidence of return on investment.
- Work closely with publicity and content team colleagues to develop fully integrated campaign plans, for both owned and bought media channels.
- Liaise with brands, influencers, creators and partner organisations to pitch and execute marketing collaborations in order to amplify the visibility of our books and the audience reach of our campaigns.
- Work to approved budgets and team processes, ensuring that invoices and expenses are processed without delay and according to correct cost centres.
- Report on campaign strategy, plans and post-campaign results to key internal and external stakeholders, in a clear and timely fashion.
- Work with the Senior Marketing Manager to devise, book, brief and execute creative and selling advertising campaigns for our books and non-book products across a range of platforms and media, and produce post-campaign reports on their effectiveness.
- Oversee production of point-of-sale collateral as required, liaising with our sales teams to organise dispatch to key accounts.
- Work on brand, series and list-level campaigns as required.
- Work on non-book product campaigns as required, for our Children’s gifts, games and jigsaws.
- Occasional support is needed for in-house and out-of-hours events and signings, with time off in lieu to be agreed in line with our policies.
Digital marketing:
- Support and set up digital advertising for your key titles across a range of platforms and formats, including but not limited to Meta, Google, Reddit, TikTok, and elsewhere.
- Working to budget, contribute to effective audience targeting, delivering results against KPIs set by your manager, for strong campaign performance.
- Be a champion for digital innovation within the marketing team, keeping abreast of automations and AI
efficiency gains in digital marketing, working at all times in line with our AI policy. - Research changes in the digital marketing landscape and where required, present findings to the
marketing team, as part of our drive to encourage shared learning and development. - Working with your manager, produce monthly reports on paid digital advertising spends and share these with the team.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ marketing experience, within publishing or the arts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong administrative skills with the ability to multi-task
- Strong interest in digital marketing and desire to drive self-development in this area
- Strong understanding of social media strategy, audience development, paid media, SEO, email marketing, and analytics
- Accurate and numerate
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience in using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva is an advantage
- Confidence using digital marketing and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, Mailchimp, Klaviyo or equivalent platforms.

We are looking for a well-organized, enthusiastic and self-motivated Editorial Assistant to join our dynamic team, reporting to the Managing Editor and Director of Publishing and Digital, and working closely with a small but dedicated and wide-ranging team. This is rare opportunity to gain a holistic perspective of how visually ambitious, design-led books are made. Some previous experience in publishing or a related field is an advantage – this role would suit an editorial intern looking for their first full-time position, an editorial assistant looking to broaden their remit, or someone from another area of publishing who wants to move into Editorial.
The Role
- Supporting Commissioning Editors and their editorial activities across five publishing lists, including scheduling meetings and providing day-to-day administrative assistance across the team
- Liaising across teams, departments and T&H’s international offices, as well as external parties, to assist with meeting goals and deadlines
- Requesting, sending out and organizing signature of author and photographer agreements via DocuSign
- Keeping track of and posting complimentary author copies, as
well as booking general deliveries and collections - Uploading metadata and organizing sales materials
- Financial administrative tasks including tracking author payments and processing invoices
- Helping to prepare and proofread editorial materials, such as for sales presentations and book fairs, keying in proofreading changes, and generating PDFs
- Sending out and chasing Author Questionnaires for the Press and Marketing department
- Creating internet spreads for individual titles and managing the circulation and approval process
- Supporting the online Volume lists, including fulfilling orders, proofreading campaign pages and communication assets, and contributing to Volume meetings
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Superb organization and time management
- Ability to be proactive, multi-task and prioritize effectively
- Experience of office and administrative work
- Exceptional attention to detail and professionalism
- Intermediate level of MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Familiarity with InDesign a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and command of English spelling and grammar
- Copywriting and proofreading skills a bonus, with an appetite for deepening these skills
- Familiarity with at least one foreign language a plus
- Curious about a range of subject areas and always keen to learn

We are looking for an experienced Editorial Manager to join our Museum Publishing Programme, reporting to the Editorial Director of Museum and Institutional Publishing.
The role
This is a varied and collaborative role for an experienced illustrated-book editor and project manager with a strong interest in art, design and museum publishing.
You will manage a range of complex illustrated titles through all stages of the editorial and production process, working closely with authors, curators, designers, production colleagues and freelance editorial staff to deliver books to a high editorial and visual standard.
Alongside managing your own projects, you will help oversee the wider museum publishing programme and line-manage a small editorial team.
This role would suit someone who enjoys balancing creative collaboration with detailed project management, and who is comfortable managing multiple schedules, stakeholders and priorities at once.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing several complex illustrated books simultaneously from manuscript to publication
- Working collaboratively with museum and institutional partners, authors, curators, designers and production teams
- Scheduling projects and monitoring budgets and workflows
- Managing freelance editors and other external contributors
- Copy-editing and reviewing text to a high standard where required
- Tracking progress across the wider museums publishing list

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with strong editorial judgement, excellent organisational skills and experience managing illustrated publishing projects.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Significant editorial experience, ideally in illustrated or museum publishing
- Experience managing complex projects, schedules and budgets
- Experience working with external contributors and freelance editorial staff
- Previous people-management or mentoring experience
- Strong copy-editing and proofreading skills
- A good working knowledge of Adobe InDesign
- Excellent communication and relationship-management skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively across teams
- An interest in art, design and visual culture
