A captivating visual presentation of Es Devlin’s personal yet inherently collective art practice, now available in a new compact edition with additional content.

Artist and designer Es Devlin's outstanding works span the fields of art, theatre, opera, dance, fashion, sculpture, poetry, light and music. Her practice has helped engender innovative forms of kinetic sculpture and her creative vision has filled millions of people with wonder: from installations at Tate Modern, kinetic stage designs for Olympic opening ceremonies, and monumental stage sculptures with celebrated musicians globally. Devlin’s work is at once deeply personal and inherently collective, engaging with biodiversity, linguistic diversity and collective AI-generated poetry.

Following the success of Devlin's award-winning sculptural monograph, An Atlas of Es Devlin (2023), A Concise Atlas of Es Devlin maintains the experiential design of the original in an accessible, smaller format with thirty new projects from Devlin’s recent output, including collaborations with Lady Gaga, Gucci and the V&A. Coinciding with the Design Museum's retrospective of her work opening in London in autumn 2026, the book features Devlin’s personal commentaries on each work, as well as interviews with her collaborators including Pharrell Williams and Carlo Rovelli.

Press Reviews

Es Devlin has spent the past three decades creating spectacles on a monumental scale. Yet for the past seven years, she has been quietly obsessing over a relatively miniature object. An Atlas of Es Devlin is a 1,000-page effort to encapsulate one of Britain’s most versatile and prolific artists…[now in] a new “concise” edition (still 1,000 pages long, but smaller than the original)

About the Authors

ES DEVLIN (born London 1971) is genre-defying artist whose work spans sculpture, performance, drawing, language and light. Devlin views an audience as a temporary society in which new perspectives can be rehearsed. Her luminous public artworks invite participation in communal choral works at major sites and institutions including V&A Museum, Trafalgar Square, Tate Modern, Serpentine, National Portrait Gallery, Imperial War Museum, and Lincoln Centre Plaza. Her practice has been documented in retrospective exhibitions at the London Design Museum, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, Casa Bradesco São Paulo, Futura Seoul, Powerhouse Parramatta, Sydney and ArtScience Museum Singapore. Her kinetic stage sculptures in theatres, opera houses, arena and stadia have redefined the art of performance design in collaboration with the world’s most celebrated musicians. A fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, Devlin serves as Visiting Professor of Contemporary Theatre at the University of Oxford.
